We are originally Irish but have been living overseas, mostly in Asia, for the last 20 years. We are currently based in Singapore and we try to get back to Lucca at least once a year. We came to this area of Tuscany for a family get-together with old friends and fell in love with the location immediately: the hills, the woodland, the tranquility, yet so close to Lucca and its fantastic walls. We saw about 10 properties in one week and A Parino was in the worst condition but with huge potential and a view to die for! By the end of the week, we had paid a deposit and then began 2 years of renovations being managed from afar (never again!) However, the house was completely transformed!
The previous owners are the Benedetti family, whose own home overlooks the property on the road to Domazzano and they feel so proud of what has been done to their old home. This house is also much more than a holiday home to us. We all feel very close to it - it's part of our soul - and any visitor will tell you the same. It is utterly enchanting.
What we love about A Parino:
- Breakfast on the verandah with the sun appearing over the hills
- The birdsong every day
- The views
- The peace and calmness - you never want to leave
- The pool to cool down in on hot days
- Alda and Paolo - just super people in handling everyone's needs
- The close proximity of Lucca and other restaurants
